Explain what you enjoy most about your sport and athletics.
Being a part of a team and just acting as leader is what I find the most enjoyable. There is no other sport like football where you can go physically beat up your opponent. You’re also faced with many other challenges in football and overcoming all of the adversity makes football so much fun. There is no greater feeling than just being out on the football field.
What is your most memorable athletic moment?
My Pop Warner season, West Canada vs. Little Falls, there was 30 seconds left in the game, we were down by a touchdown. I can remember it perfectly: our couch, Mr. (Ron) Lindsay, who is now our varsity coach saying you need to strip the ball to win the game. Our outside backer had their running back stood up, I came in stripped the ball and ran it in for a touchdown to win the game.
Tell us about someone who inspires you in sports and why
My cousin Edson Stewart from Dolgeville was on their state championship team. I went to all his games and always wanted to be one day playing in the (Carrier) Dome for the state title as he did.
What are your greatest challenges balancing academics and sports?
Time is the hardest thing that I face between sports and academics. After having three-hour practices it is hard to come home and do one or two hours of homework without falling asleep.
What are your plans after graduating from high school?
I’m planning on going to college and play college football. I have visited about five different colleges (Division III) for unofficial visits for football throughout the summer.
