Team USA earlier this week moved into a tie for first place in wheelchair curling at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
The squad squeaked out a last-rock win over Great Britain to improve to 4-1 in the round robin standings at the games, said officials of the team’s home organization, the Sitrin STARS in New Hartford.
Local paralympic athlete James Joseph, 47, of New Hartford, has a cheering contingent in the village of Ilion and Mohawk Valley, as family and friends are spread throughout the region.
The team also has wins over Italy, Korea and Germany, with its only loss coming to Team Canada.
Team USA continues to make its push toward the semifinal and gold medal matches on Saturday, March 20.
