In three sentences, explain what you enjoy most about your sport and athletics.
I enjoy sports so much because they’re a release for me. I just love the adrenaline that builds up before a game or a match or a race. And then when I’m competing I just get in the zone and I feel like I’m untouchable.

What is your most memorable athletic moment?
My first year on the varsity wrestling program, my first ever varsity wrestling match. It was against a kid from Mount Markham and before my match Johnny Wratten came up to me and said, “Come on, kid. Show him what you can do,” and I pinned him in 48 seconds. That feeling was just so amazing. Johnny came up to me after my match and hugged me and said, “Way to go! The underdog came out on top!”

Tell us about someone who inspires you in sports and why
My brother Robby has always been the person who inspires me the most in sports. I’ve always looked up to him for as long as I can remember and I’ve always adored how well he competed in sports, and I’ve wanted to do as good as he did. So when he’s present at any sporting event that I’m taking part in, I push myself that much harder to make him proud of me, but he doesn’t know he inspires me like that. And my sister Erika has also always been right there with our brother to inspire because I know she’ll always be there for me no mater how I do to tell me that I still did a great job and that she was and always would be proud of me.

What are your greatest challenges balancing academics and sports?
Well I developed asthma in 10th grade so that adds to my challenges, but I’ve always been discriminated against in wrestling just because I’m a girl wrestler. It was frustrating at first, but I’ve grown used to it, but I’d have to that when I win a match I can only imagine  what all those people must think after all the troubles they put me through.

What are your plans after graduating from high school?
I’m going to be attending HCCC in the fall and going through the general studies program and hopefully participating on the soccer and track teams.
