  • sasha and ava eat with handsTake a free-spirited young woman accustomed to travel and eating all over the world, and tie her down in Tulsa, Okla., with a meat-and-potatoes husband and a baby daughter. In the movies, that kind of thing always ends badly. But not for Sasha Martin, the blogging mom behind Global Table Adventure. When traveling was no longer an option, she decided to cook her way around the world, one country at a time, and blog about her adventures. She began her nearly four-year project just as her daughter, Ava, started eating solid food. After cooking through 195 countries, she’ll finish off with Zimbabwe this fall. Husband Keith (a.k.a. “Mr. Picky”) and Ava have come to see cultures in a new light, and a tasty one at that. Below you will find two of Sasha's more exotic recipes that kids will enjoy. One for glazed orange coconut cake from a little Micronesian island called Kosrae, and another for Arroz con Pollo (Rice with Chicken) from Latin America. The others listed are our picks for family recipes that will get kids thinking globally. —By Tamar Haspel, a food writer in Marsten Mills, Mass.
