The Adirondack Distilling Company has added another variety of adult beverage to its product line.
The company's new ADK Gin can now be found in local liquor stores for purchase by the general public.
This follows the business' run of victories for its vodka at multiple international tasting competitions, including the Spirits International Prestige's International Spirits Competition for the vodka itself as well as its packaging.
ADK Vodka, produced in the microdistillery on Varick Street, is made using locally raised corn and is filtered through the region's own Herkimer diamonds.
"We have to filter vodka through carbon, and the Herkimer Diamond is a great local company so it just makes sense to use them," company co-founder Jordan Karp said.
The company has grown in its nine months of existence from producing a local product to a nationally distributed beverage making its way as far as California.
The microdistillery already has plans for the future, Karp said. The next addition to the product line will be bourbon.
Despite the expansions, the company plans to keep it simple.
"We've always been a small-batch product," Karp said. "We're sticking to those principles."
