  • Reign Fest, an all day Christian rock concert started in 2009, will once again bring music to Dolgeville this week.
This year’s event will feature an array of Christian bands, with Grammy-nominated Rhett Walker Band as the headliner.
“It’s cool to bring somebody of that caliber to Dolgeville,” said Robert Pierce, who started the event five years ago.
The lineup also includes new contemporary Christian band All Things New, Reign Fest regulars Everyday Sunday, Grant Woell, Kardia, Life Band, Deeper Still and New Hope Worship Team.
The concert will take place from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Dolgeville Central School auditorium.
The first concert attracted close to 300 people, and since then Reign Fest has doubled in size, with almost 600 people attending last year.
The concert was started to provide a child-friendly music event in the area.
“You’d normally have to travel to find something like that,” Pierce said. “We made it for people who may not have the means to travel out of the area.”
“Plus, we wanted to show local youth that being Christian doesn’t have to be boring — we have fun, too,” Pierce said.
The guest speaker at this year’s event will be the Rev. David Hayner of New Life Church in Herkimer.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. Group pricing is available, especially for youth groups and food will be offered to any youth group that reserves tickets.
