  • Doris Reardon, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, Aug. 29, 2013, in Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
She was born on March 30, 1931, in Ilion, daughter of the late Frank and Electa Tapling Eberlein. A lifelong area resident, she was raised in Mohawk and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On May 14, 1955 she was united in marriage with Donald A. Reardon in the Mohawk United Methodist Church. They shared a loving and devoted union of 50 years until his passing on May 21, 2005.
Mrs. Reardon had first worked for the Remington Typewriter Company in Ilion and later for the Herkimer County Board of Elections where she was currently serving.
Doris had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Minnow Brook Garden Club, Evening Star Valley Chapter No. 82 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Meals on Wheels program and for many years she was a devoted leader of her church’s Sunday school. In her leisure time she enjoyed her home. Rarely was a sunny day that you would not find Doris outside mowing her lawn or tending to the beautiful flowers and shrubbery that surrounded her home. To all who knew her she was a loving, caring and generous lady. She was always there to help without looking for something in return. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family, especially her three cherished granddaughters.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Reardon, of Mohawk, Stephen and his, wife Robin Reardon, of Clarkston, Mich.; a sister, Eleanor Rugg and her husband, John, of Rochester; three granddaughters, Katie Reardon, of Herkimer, Kelsey Reardon, of Chicago and Brooke Reardon, of Clarkston, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend, Betty Miller.
