  • HAMILTON, N.Y. — The undefeated Poland Tornadoes advanced to the championship match at Hamilton’s Optimist Tournament with a 3-1 win over McGraw Thursday.
The Tornadoes’ win sets up a meeting of longtime Class D rivals in Saturday’s championship match. Hamilton/Morrisville-Eaton defeated Cincinnatus 2-1 in its first-round match Wednesday.
Mark Hennings had a goal and an assist for Poland (6-0-0). Ross Agen and Cameron Tabor each scored a goal and Dustin DuBrule had an assist. Goalkeeper Mitch Jones made five saves.
Jordan Cowan scored for McGraw (1-4-0). Ryan White made 10 saves.
Both finalists are undefeated. Poland is ranked second in Class D by the New York State Sportswriters Association; Hamilton, up in class after combining its program with Morrisville-Eaton this fall, is No. 8 in Class C.
The Tornadoes also have a match Friday in Old Forge.
Saturday’s match starts at 7:30 p.m. and follows the girls’ championship tilt between Poland and Hamilton.
