    LITTLE FALLS 1, MORRISVILLE-EATON 0
LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — Freshman Maria Morotti scored in the second half Saturday and the Little Falls Mounties defeated Morrisville-Eaton 1-0.
The win allowed the undefeated Mounties (7-0-0) to match their total from last fall when they won a Section III playoff match for the first time since the program started in the late 1990s.
The match was scoreless at halftime and remained so until the middle of the second half when Morotti dribbled through the defense and shot into the corner of the net for the only goal of the afternoon.
Little Falls goalkeeper Cheyenne Rivenburg came out from her net and snatched the ball out of the air while colliding with a charging Morrisville-Eaton forward with about two minutes left to play.
“She showed no fear,” Mounties coach Sal Marchese reported, “and that ball was hers.”
The save, one of eight credited to Rivenburg, preserved the sixth shutout of the season for Little Falls.
Shelby Brown made nine saves for Morrisville-Eaton (3-3-1).
Next up for Little Falls is Tuesday’s match at home against Herkimer. Both teams are undefeated within Division II of the Center State Conference.
