  • FIELD HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Mt. Markham silences Thunder

  • ILION, N.Y. — The Mt. Markham Mustangs scored three times in the second half Friday and defeated the Central Valley Academy Thunder 3-0 on the road.
    Bryn Hoover scored off a penalty corner and broke a scoreless tie in the opening five minutes of the second half. The Mustangs added a second goal a short time later.
    Alex Hoover and Ashley Rohacek each scored a goal for Mt. Markham (3-1-2) and Siena Allen and Lizzy Jones each had an assist. Amanda Otis made four saves in the shutout.
    Samantha Urich recorded three saves for the Thunder (2-5-0).
    Central Valley Academy is home again Tuesday for a game against Little Falls. The Mustangs next play Thursday at home against Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton.
    LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — Goalie Kristi Torres made five saves for Little Falls Friday and the Mounties shut Clinton’s Warriors out 1-0 under the Veterans Memorial Park lights.
    Sydney McCarthy scored the lone goal for the Mounties (5-1-0) with an assist coming from Sara Kotary.
    Bailey Bach made 16 saves for the Warriors (5-3-0).
    Little Falls won the junior varsity game by the same 1-0 score.
    The Mounties head to Barringer Road Elementary in Ilion Tuesday for a game against Central Valley Academy.
    SAUQUOIT, N.Y. — Jessica Welsh scored the lone goal Friday in undefeated Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton’s 1-0 win over the Sauquoit Valley Indians.
    Erika Parker made nine saves for the Indians (4-2-0) who suffered their second consecutive loss after a 4-0-0 start.
    Jessica Carroll had three saves for Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton (5-0-0). Lacy Westcott assisted on the Welsh goal.
    Sauquoit Valley play at Oneida Tuesday.
