  • GIRLS' TENNIS ROUNDUP: Three-set win puts CVA over top against HP

  • HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. — Brooklyn Goff won an extended third-set tie-breaker at third singles Friday and the Central Valley Academy Thunder claimed a 3-2 win over Holland Patent’s Golden Knights.
    The Thunder won two of the three singles matches and split with the Golden Knights in doubles play. Kelly North beat Holland Patent’s Laura Panzone 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) at first singles and the Thunder’s top doubles team of Amanda Dahl and Brandy Torres defeated Bethanne Torraco and MacKenzie Robbins 6-4, 6-4.
    Goff won her first set against Lindy Callahan but dropped the second. The tie-breaker for the deciding third set went to a 24th point before Goff walked off the court with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (13-11) victory.
    Jennifer Zielinski was a three-set winner for Holland Patent at second singles, beating Kacey Visser, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Ashley Parent and Nuala Woods won in second doubles play.

    1, Kelly North (Central Valley Academy) defeated Laura Panzone (Holland Patent), 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
    2, Jennifer Zielinski (Holland Patent) defeated Kacey Visser (Central Valley Academy), 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
    3, Brooklyn Goff (Central Valley Academy) defeated Lindy Callihan (Holland Patent), 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (13-11).
    Doubles
    1, Amanda Dahl and Brandy Torres (Central Valley Academy) defeated Bethanne Torraco and MacKenzie Robbins (Holland Patent), 6-4, 6-4.
    2, Ashley Parent and Nuala Woods (Holland Patent) defeated Abby McCann and Niki Walis (Central Valley Academy), 6-1, 6-2.

    LITTLE FALLS 3, WATERVILLE 2
    WATERVILLE, N.Y. —The Little Falls Mounties rebounded from a pair of losses the day before and defeated Waterville 3-2 in the road Friday.
    Samantha Ackerman and Lindsey Tolman won their singles matches for the Mounties and Sienna Caracane and Trisha Shaffer won in doubles play. Ackerman did not lose a game in her match against Megan Eastman and Tolman was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Annika Hill. Caracane and Shaffer beat Sydney Jones and Chloe Keating 6-0, 6-1.
    Autumn Fallon, playing first singles, won her match for the Indians and the tandem of Brooke DiMare and Alexis Easton won at second doubles.
    LITTLE FALLS 3, WATERVILLE 2
    Singles
    1, Autumn Fallon (Waterville) defeated Elaine Zawtocki (Little Falls), 6-4, 6-2.
    2, Samantha Ackerman (Little Falls) defeated Megan Eastman (Waterville), 6-0, 6-0.
    3, Lindsey Tolman (Little Falls) defeated Annika Hill (Waterville), 6-1, 6-2.

    1, Sienna Caracane and Trisha Shaffer (Little Falls) defeated Sydney Jones and Chloe Keating (Waterville), 6-0, 6-1.
