  • A black and white Shitzu mix dog has been missing since June and its owner, Minnie Weaver, of Palatine, is still hoping the dog will be found and returned home.
Weaver was scheduled for surgery and had given Penelope to a friend in Herkimer to care for in the meantime. Almost immediately, Penelope slipped her collar and ran off. She has apparently been running ever since, although there have been several reported sightings in the village of Herkimer, including at Herkimer County Community College, where campus security officers tried unsuccessfully to catch the little dog.
More recently, there were reports Penelope had been spotted near the Crystal Chandelier, where people left scraps out for her.
She was also reportedly seen in Middleville.
A posting about the missing dog has been post on the H.A.L.O. website, according to Caryl Hopson.
The dog is described as timid. Anyone who sees her is asked to call Minnie at 518-673-3971 or Diane at 717-5379.
