  • BOYS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Poland defeats West Canada Valley 3-0

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — Mitch Jones made eight saves for Poland Wednesday and the undefeated Tornadoes were 3-0 winners against the West Canada Valley Indians.
    Mike Sypolt, Cameron Tabor and Ross Agen each scored a goal for Poland (11-0-0) which led 1-0 at halftime.
    Michael Sternberg made 12 saves for West Canada Valley (6-4-1).
    Poland takes on Westmoreland Friday at home. West Canada Valley has a match at home Saturday against Little Falls.
    WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — The Owen D. Young Wildcats took a 2-1 lead in the first half Wednesday and defeated Mt. Markham’s Mustangs 3-1.
    Jeff Yaun scored two goals for the Wildcats (7-2-0) and Cole Covney had one. Matt Cristman and Bradlee Edick each had an assist and goalkeeper Andrey Drozdov made five saves.
    Kris Pontero scored for Mt. Markham (3-8-0) with an assist form Henry Feist. Mike Gras made seven saves.
    The Wildcats are home for Friday’s match against Remsen. Mt. Markham next plays Oct. 10 against Remsen.
    OLD FORGE 11
    WEBB, N.Y. — Seven Eskimos scored goals Wednesday in Old Forge’s 11-0 win over the Little Falls Mounties.
    Connor Glasser scored three goals for the Eskimos (4-4-0), Cy Barkauskas and Carter Lawrence each had two, and Hunter Lawrence, Carter Kelly, Tyler McGaugh and Griffin Kleps each scored one.
    Cole Douglas made 21 saves for Little Falls (0-9-1).
    The Mounties travel to Newport for their next match Saturday.
    SHERBURNE, N.Y. — The Sherburne-Earlville Marauders blanked Frankfort-Schuyler 5-0 Friday.
    Keith Rose made four saves for the Marauders and Kevin Vibbard, who scored a goal from the field, added one. Skyler Gold and Elijah Morris each had a goal and an assist while Nathan Piazzi and Jake Babich each scored a goal.
    Jerry Pritchard made eight saves for Frankfort-Schuyler (0-11-1).
    The Maroon Knights play Friday at Canastota.
