State police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer that left a tow truck driver with a gash across his midsection as tended to a disabled car on a central New York highway.
Dorwin Lyboult of West Monroe tells local media outlets that his tow truck was parked on the right-hand shoulder of Interstate 81’s southbound lanes late Saturday afternoon to help a couple whose car had a flat tire in the Oswego County town of Mexico, 30 miles north of Syracuse.
The 33-year-old father of four says as a tractor-trailer approached, he pressed himself against the side of his truck. As the rig passed by, something on the truck ripped open his stomach.
The couple called 911 and stemmed the bleeding until an ambulance arrived. Lyboult was released from the hospital Sunday.
