  • GIRLS' SOCCER: Herkimer tops Dolgeville

    EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians broke a tie with just over 10 minutes left to play Monday and defeated the Dolgeville Blue Devils 3-1.
    Herkimer had scored quickly at the start of the game and Dolgeville had tied the score in the middle of the first half. The teams remained knotted at 1 for more than 52 minutes before Hannah DeLude scored an unassisted goal with 10:10 remaining in regulation. Five minutes later, McKenzie Pine added a goal assisted by Ashley Fahy to secure the win for the Magicians (7-3-1, 6-1-0 CSC-II).
    Caitlyn Roorda had scored with an assist from Pine 1:51 into the match. Chelsea Jory had one save for Herkimer.
    Sarah George scored for Dolgeville (4-8-1, 1-5-1 CSC-II) on a breakaway just over 17 minutes into the contest. Katie Millard made 11 saves.
    Herkimer plays Wednesday at West Canada Valley. Dolgeville is home for a match Wednesday against Little Falls.
