  • GIRLS' TENNIS: Sauquoit Valley advances to Class C final

  • SAUQUOIT, N.Y. — The Sauquoit Valley Indians earned a spot in Section III’s Class C championship match with a 4-1 win semifinal over Clinton Wednesday.
    The second-seeded Indians (17-1) meet Skaneateles, the undefeated No. 1 seed and defending champion, in Friday’s final. Skaneateles defeated Manlius-Pebble Hill 7-0 Wednesday.
    As has been their custom, the Indians swept singles play with Ella and Tanya Brutsky and Dana Bever all winning in straight sets. Isabella Arrigo and Kira Baran added a 2-0 win at second doubles.
    Rebecca Williams and Carly Sinclair were winners for Clinton (15-4) at first doubles.
    Three of Clinton’s four losses this fall were against Sauquoit Valley.
    1, Ella Brutsky (Sauquoit Valley) defeated Shannon Cherpak (Clinton), 6-4, 6-1.
    2, Dana Bever (Sauquoit Valley) defeated Olivia Kodsy (Clinton), 6-2, 6-4.
    3, Tanya Brutsky (Sauquoit Valley) defeated Laura Hopkins (Clinton), 6-0, 6-1.
    1, Rebecca Williams and Carly Sinclair (Clinton) defeated Maiah DeGironimo and Rena Topor (Sauquoit Valley), 6-2, 6-4.
    2, Isabella Arrigo and Kira Baran (Sauquoit Valley) defeated Esther Mazor and Carly Sinclair (Clinton), 6-4, 6-2.
    Records — Clinton 15-4; Sauquoit Valley 17-1.
