  • GIRLS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Cooperstown edges West Canada Valley

  • COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The Cooperstown Hawkeyes trailed at halftime Tuesday but used a pair of second-half goals to beat the West Canada Valley Indians 3-2.
    West Canada valley (2-10-0, 0-7-0 CSC-II) led 2-1 at halftime on goals scored by Shania McEvoy and Joelle Ceneviva.
    Liz Millea had a goal and an assist for Cooperstown (7-4-0, 4-4-0 CSC-II) and Maggie Hall and Jordian Siver each scored a goal.
    Katie Kleban had nine saves for Cooperstown while Olivia Bolton made 12 for West Canada Valley.
    West Canada Valley is home for Wednesday’s match against Herkimer. Cooperstown plays at Frankfort-Schuyler Wednesday.
    POLAND 8
    POLAND, N.Y. — Tara Seigle hit the net three times for Poland Tuesday in the Tornadoes’ 8-1 win over the Oriskany Redskins.
    Paige Sullivan scored a goal and assisted on three others to go with the three Seigle goals for the Tornadoes (10-2-0, 6-0-0 CSC-IV). Poland led 6-1 at halftime and also got goals form Mikayla Blumenstock, Alyssa Lepper, Shiane Irwin, Keara Blumenstock and Saige Hampston. Shelby Ossont contributed an assist and Courtney Green made three saves.
    Poland is off until Saturday when its annual Columbus Day Tournament kicks off in conjunction with the Kuyahoora Valley Fall Festival. The Tornadoes play at 6 p.m. Saturday against Hamilton; Clinton and DeRuyter meet in the other first-round match. In the boys’ tournament, Remsen takes on Holland Patent and Poland meets DeRuyter at 4 p.m.
