  • GIRLS' TENNIS: Camden knocks CVA out of playoffs

  • CAMDEN, N.Y. — Camden’s Blue Devils knocked Central Valley Academy out of Section III’s Class B playoffs with a 4-1 victory Saturday.
    Camden, seeded eighth, was subsequently beaten 7-0 Tuesday in its quarterfinal match against No. 1 Oneida.
    Kelly North, playing first singles, picked up the lone individual win for the Thunder Saturday. North was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against Chelsea Newton.
    Camden won the second and third singles matches and both doubles matches in straight sets.
    1, Kelly North (Central Valley Academy) defeated Chelsea Newton (Camden), 6-2, 6-2.
    2, Kassidy Candito (Camden) defeated Abby McCann (Central Valley Academy), 6-2, 6-3.
    3, Nicole Dawson (Camden) defeated Brandy Torres (Central Valley Academy), 7-5, 6-3.
    1, Samantha Brown and Elisabeth Wolff (Camden) defeated DaniLynn Engert and Kacey Visser (Central Valley Academy), 6-4, 6-2.
    2, April Cole and Megan Martin (Camden) defeated Amanda Dahl and Niki Walis (Central Valley Academy), 6-3, 6-1.
    Records — Central Valley Academy 8-9; Camden 6-6.
