  • GIRLS' SOCCER: Tornadoes clinch CSC-IV crown

  • POLAND, N.Y. — Mikayla Blumenstock had all three Poland goals Thursday and the Tornadoes clinched the Center State Conference’s Division IV crown with their 3-1 win over the Remsen Rams.
    Poland, the only team that has beaten Remsen this fall, led 1-0 at halftime following the first Blumenstock goal. Tara Seigle assisted on one goal for the Tornadoes (11-2-0, 7-0-0 CSC-IV) and Paige Sullivan had assists on the other two.
    Elisha Hamilton scored a goal in the second half for Remsen (10-2-0, 5-2-0 CSC-IV). Courtney Green made six saves for Poland while Mieka Scott had 13 for Remsen.
    The Tornadoes’ annual Columbus Day Tournament starts Saturday with Poland meeting Hamilton at 6 p.m. in the last of day’s four matches. Clinton and DeRuyter play at 2 p.m. in the other first-round match. The consolation and championship matches will be played Sunday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
