Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard’s 14th Annual Big Squeeze Weekend raised $5,000 to help fund the Friends of Bassett’s Women’s Imaging Center Campaign.
The campaign supports renovations and equipment purchases to Bassett Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center which performs over 6,000 mammograms and 3,000 ultrasounds annually.
“Bill and I matched $2,500 to the $2,500 raised through the sale of our cider on Saturday,” said Brenda Michaels, co-owner of the mill, in a news release. “Hopefully Bassett’s increased demand for imaging services come from awareness events such as Big Squeeze. We are pleased to increase our support for such a needed tool in the early detection of breast cancer. I hope the improvements will save the lives of many people in our region.”
In addition to raising funds at Big Squeeze the Delaware, Otsego and Otsego Cancer Services Program distributed information on cancer screening services and provided 16 imaging and screening appointments aboard Bassett Cancer Institutes’ mobile screening coach.
