  • Bay Path College has launched a new master of science in cybersecurity management, the first of its kind in New England, under the direction of Larry Snyder, Ph.D., a resident of Fort Plain and a pioneer in the field of cybersecurity management education, according to a news release. Bay Path is currently enrolling students in its online degree program, which will begin in October.
The fully online graduate degree program will prepare students for both entry and mid-level management positions in the growing cybersecurity, information assurance and risk management fields.
Snyder has nearly two decades of experience in law enforcement, fraud detection and auditing. He has worked in this capacity for the U.S. Army and in a variety of industries. He most recently worked in the State University of New York system where, as an assistant professor, he led Herkimer County Community College in obtaining national certification for the cybersecurity program from the Committee on National Security Systems. Snyder earned his bachelor’s degree in economic crime investigations from Utica College and his master’s in network security from Capitol College. He completed his doctoral degree in information systems from Nova Southeastern University.
According to Lloyd’s Global Risk Index, a survey of more than 500 of the world’s most senior business leaders, cybersecurity is the No. 3 global business threat, up from No. 12 just one year ago.
“We are one of only a few programs in the country that marries management training with the technological knowledge and skills and both are essential for today’s cybersecurity professional,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Melissa Morriss-Olson said in the release. “The MS in cybersecurity management was approved by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education Board after a comprehensive review by a nationally renowned team of educators from the field who praised the college for its innovative approach to program design.”
The fully online MS in cybersecurity management, a 36-credit, 12 course accredited degree program, is designed to fill the demand for professionals who understand cybersecurity and have leadership skills.
