  • AARP Chapter No. 1410 members will meet Monday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mohawk Reformed Church, Otsego Street, Mohawk.
Guest speaker Dr. Ann Marie Murray, president of Herkimer County Community College, will present an update on new developments at the college, including courses and activities of interest to seniors.
The second guest speaker will be Charles Miller, director of the Herkimer County Veterans Service Agency, who will discuss ways to honor or memorialize veterans. The title of his presentation will be “Remembering our Veterans” and he will speak about the Veterans Service Agency and the veterans' monuments at the college.
John Seymour, known as the “singing barber,” will conclude the program with his rendition of several favorite songs, including those representing the armed forces.
After the program, hostesses Pauline Cesarini, Helen Brandon, Sandra MacMaster, Theresa Scalise and Jane Godlewski will serve an ice cream social.
Harriete Feldbrugge and Diana Shoen will serve as co-chairmen for the gas card raffle and will distribute tickets at the Oct. 21 and Nov. 18 meetings. Jean E. Stapleton, AARP No. 1410 president, stated the chapter's goal for 2014 is to award two scholarships - one to an HCCC student and one to a BOCES student. The support of all chapter members is needed to make this a success. The drawing will take place Dec. 9.
Tickets for the Dec. 9 Christmas luncheon at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer will also be available at the Oct. 21 meeting or call Marion Huyck at 894-9819.
