  • GIRLS' SOCCER: Cinton takes CSC-I title with win over Thunder

  • MOHAWK, N.Y. — The Clinton Warriors bounced back from their first loss of the season and defeated Central Valley Academy 4-1 Wednesday to clinch the Center State Conference’s Division I championship.
    The Warriors (14-1-0, 9-0-0 CSC-I) scored the first three goals and led 3-1 at halftime on the way to their second win against the Thunder this fall. Hannah Shankman scored two goals and assisted on a third. Jenna Divine had a goal and an assist, Maureen Lewis scored a goal, and Grace Atik and Caroline Bonomo each had an assist. Goalkeeper Marissa Cornelius made nine saves.
    Sophie Miller scored off a Teigha Ward corner kick in the 35th minute for Central Valley Academy (12-2-0, 8-2-0 CSC-I) which had won eight consecutive matches since a 1-0 loss in Clinton Sept. 24. Alicia Ceneviva was credited with two saves for the Thunder.
