  • EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — The final Friday of the regular season did nothing to sort out the Class D East standings. Herkimer, West Canada Valley and Dolgeville all won lopsided games and finished in a three-way tie for first place.
Herkimer quarterback Austin Mills threw five touchdown passes and ran for two scores — all in the first half — and the Magicians (6-1, 5-1 D East) defeated Sauquoit Valley 50-2.
Devin Coonradt had nine carries for 193 yards and two touchdowns for Dolgeville (6-1, 5-1 D East) in the first half of the Blue Devils’ 49-15 win at Waterville/Madison. After winning its first three games, Waterville/Madison finished the regular season in fourth place with a 4-3 overall record and a 3-3 league mark.
West Canada Valley quarterback Ryan Moody ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and passed for another score as the Indians (5-2, 5-1 D East) blanked Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton 25-0 under temporary lights in Newport.
For Section III playoff seeding purposes, the tie is broken by first-half head-to-head point differential between the three teams. At plus-12, Herkimer gets the top seed. Dolgeville is plus-1 and West Canada Valley is minus-13, leaving the Indians in the mix for a wild card berth in the postseason.
