Denny’s Restaurant, at 701 Mohawk St., celebrated its grand reopening Thursday by handing out free original Grand Slam breakfasts to its 100 customers.
Michael Hinze, restaurant manager, said it was a “roof-to-floor, wall-to-wall” remodel of the facility.
“It’s a more modern look. It’s a lot brighter and it’s more comfortable seating. There’s new booths and a new style,” he said, as he passed out the coupons for the free breakfasts on Thursday.
Hinze also said the restaurant now has a double kitchen, which will help during busier times, and new coolers.
Hinze said the restaurant was closed for 11 days to remodel the facility, which opened in 1995.
The restaurant also gave away 25 free classic burger and fries meals at noon and a free entrée for the first 25 diners at 6 p.m.
Hinze said he hopes the redesign “will bring some of the older customers back.”
“We’re still here. We’re new, modern and comfortable,” he said.
Marilyn Riggs, of Mohawk, was one of the customers who took their turn to spin the wheel at the cash register to win a free milkshake or other Denny’s prizes.
Riggs said she is a regular customer.
“It’s beautiful. It’s very nice,” she said of the redesign. “We missed it when it was closed.”
