Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, will be the guest speaker at the Herkimer County Republican Committee’s annual fall dinner Thursday, Oct. 24, at Francesca’s Banquet Center in Ilion.
The event will begin with a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with dinner to follow. Tickets are $50 each.
In addition to serving as the NYSRPA president, King is also the organization’s political liaison in Albany. He has been a consistent advocate for second amendment rights and has been featured on many regional and national news outlets in opposition to the New York SAFE Act. King also serves on the national board of directors for the National Rifle Association.
“Through the years, Tom King has been a friend and supporter of our largest local private employer, Remington Arms. His advocacy has been vital on a number of second amendment issues besides the SAFE Act, but it is his outspoken position to the SAFE Act that has brought him national attention,” said Sylvia Rowan, Herkimer County Republican Chairwoman.
King is a life-long hunter and competitive shooter and supports shooting programs for women and juniors.
Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R-C-I 101) will serve as toastmaster for the evening.
