  • GIRLS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: West Canada Valley ends skid by shutting out Fort Plain

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — Kara Pepin made four saves for West Canada Valley Friday and the Indians snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 3-0 shutout of the Fort Plain Hilltoppers.
    The Indians (3-13-0) had not win since beating the Hilltoppers 5-1 in Fort Plain Sept. 23.
    Danielle VanName, Shania McEvoy and Taylor Zaino each scored a goal for West Canada Valley and Morgan Lynch had an assist.
    Mackenzie Stevens made 20 saves for Fort Plain.

    WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — Hannah Gray had three goals for Waterville Friday in the Indians’ 4-3 win over the Mt. Markham Mustangs.
    Alexis Decker added a goal and two assists for Waterville and Rylee Martin and Molly Subaru each had an assist. Steph Williams made nine saves.
    Kali Casanova, Hannah Barrett and Heather Curtin each scored a goal for Mt. Markham. Olivia Thomson had an assist and Ellie Ainslie made 10 saves.

    REMSEN, N.Y. — Aly Atwell-Charzek had a goal and three assists Friday as the Remsen Rams closed out the regular season with a 5-1 win over the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights.
    Joleen Marfone added two goals, Brittany Waterbury had a goal and an assist, and Elisha Hamilton scored a goal for the Rams (12-2-0). Mieka Scott made eight saves.
    Alexis Bianchi scored and Cassandra Grippe recorded 23 saves for Frankfort-Schuyler.

    SAUQUOIT, N.Y. — The New Hartford Spartans broke away from a 1-all tie at halftime Friday and defeated Central Valley Academy 4-1 in the first round of Sauquoit Valley’s tournament.
    Mallory Max scored two goals for the Spartans, Meral Evke had a goal and an assist and Christina Paul scored a goal. Dana DelGenio and Gabby Hobika made eight combined saves.
    Teigha Ward scored for Central Valley Academy with an assist from Sophie Miller. Alicia Ceneviva made two saves.

    SAUQUOIT, N.Y. — Abbey Mielnicki had a hat trick for Sauquoit Valley Friday and the Indians beat Cooperstown’s Hawkeyes 6-0 in the first round of their tournament.
    Jenna Mazza had three assists to match Mielnicki’s three goals. Bre Cardillo added a goal and an assist, Danielle Ricci and Nakeya Stedman each scored a goal, and Jordan Talma and Serena Kiss contributed assists. Alyson Gaffney made two saves.

    WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — Hannah DeLude scored a goal in the second half Friday and the Herkimer Magicians defeated Westmoreland’s Bulldogs 1-0 in their final regular season match.
    Chelsea Jory made two saves in the shutout for Herkimer (11-4-1).
    Valerie Spencer had six saves for Westmoreland (0-16-0).
