The inaugural Dogtoberfest, sponsored by Ole Sal's Cafe, will take place in Sterzinar Park in Canal Place, Little Falls, on Sunday, Oct. 27.
The day's activities will begin at 10 a.m. and will end with a blessing of the dogs by Father Thomas Lawless, pastor of Holy Family Parish.
Treats from local dog treat makers Marcy's Dawg Cart and dog food samples will be available throughout the park. Groomers from The Velvet Dog will offer advice and show the services they provide.
Dog owners will have the opportunity to have their dog micro chipped by a local veterinarian for a fee.
W.C. Pope will draw dog caricatures and Carol Aufmuth will be in the park to explain and grant Canine Good Citizenship certification.
There will be other speakers on hand and booths to provide information about dogs, nutrition and general welfare information that will benefit dogs and their owners.
The day will culminate with a series of contests. Awards and prizes will be given to the dog that does the best trick, to the biggest and smallest dog, the owner and dog who look alike and the dog with the best costume.
