  • Humphreys mark 70th anniversary

  • Mr. and Mrs. William D. Humphrey, of Herkimer, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at home with their daughters, Linda Carpenter, Barbara Mowers and Jean Marconi, and family members.
    The Rev. Janet Gleason of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer and Little Falls presided over the couple in prayer and blessings.
    Father Mark Cunningham of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, presented an honorary tribute to the couple during the recent wedding ceremony of their grandson, Kyle Carpenter.
    Mr. Humphrey and the former Jean Seavey were married on Aug. 18, 1943, at the Naval Air Base Chapel, Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Humphrey, after 50 plus years of service to his community, retired from his business as owner of William D. Humphrey Memorials. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
    Mrs. Humphrey retired from teaching in the Herkimer Central School District. She is a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, the Herkimer Garden Club and the Herkimer County Historical Society.
    The couple have three daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie Carpenter of Herkimer, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Mowers of Ilion and Mr. and Mrs. David Marconi of Syracuse; a son, H. William Humphrey, deceased; and six grandchildren, Kristin Martin of Seattle, Philip Martin of Syracuse, Emma Carpenter of Philadelphia, Kyle Carpenter and his wife, Kimmy, of Charlotte, N.C., Brian Mowers and Kristy Manley of Herkimer, Ashley Mowers-Dandrea and Nick Dandrea of Mohawk; and one great-granddaughter, Camden Ann Dandrea.
