  • GIRLS' SOCCER: Dolgeville's season ends with loss to M-E

  • SMITHFIELD, N.Y.†ó The Dolgeville Blue Devils scored first Thursday but Morrisville-Eaton scored more and the Warriors advanced to Section IIIís Class C-2 semifinals with a 7-2 victory.
    Emilie Lewandowski scored in the second minute of play for the Blue Devils (7-9-1) who entered the playoffs with a three-match winning streak. Emily Widger countered with two goals for Morrisville-eaton before the match was 10 minutes old and set the third-seeded Warriors (9-7-1) on the path to victory.
    Morrisville-Eaton led 4-1 at halftime. Widger ended up with three goals and an assist, Mackensie Hirsch and Brooke Brown each scored two goals, Emily LeBlanc had three assists, and Emma Baker and Amanda Cranwell each contributed an assist. Shelby Brown made eight saves for the Warriors.
    Sarah George had a goal for Dolgeville in the second half. Katie Millard made seven saves.
    Morrisville-Eaton travels to Chittenango Saturday to meet No. 2 Fabius-Pompey in the semifinals. The other Class C-2 semifinal pits Beaver River against Waterville, the ninth and an upset winner Thursday over Syracuseís Bishop Grimes Cobras, the tournamentís top seed.
