  • UMWA endorses Legislature candidates

  • United Mine Workers of America Local 717, representing workers at the Remington Arms Plant, has announced its endorsement of candidates for the Herkimer County Legislature in the upcoming election.
    “UMWA Local 717 takes pride in selecting candidates who will work with the union to help maintain and grow good paying jobs here in the Mohawk Valley,” said Frank “Rusty” Brown, Local 717 COMPAC chairman. “We also believe that the candidates we have chosen will continue to help us with issues like microstamping and the SAFE Act.”
    The candidates who received endorsements from Local 717 are as follows: Thomas Powers, District 2; Marty Luppino, District 1; Robert Schrader, incumbent, District 3; Bob Wellington, District 4; John Stephens, District 6; Raymond Johnson, incumbent, District 5; Vincent Bono, incumbent, District 11; Peter Manno, incumbent, District 9; Frederick Shaw, incumbent, District 16; and Bruce Weakley, incumbent, District 17.
