  • Some regional business interests have joined a push by several local residents to add commercial airline service between New York City and the Adirondack Regional Airport near Saranac Lake.
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reported Adirondack Health, North Country Community College, Paul Smith’s College, Trudeau Institute, The Wild Center and others have joined the effort. They’re asking local officials to petition the U.S. Department of Transportation for a fourth subsidized flight under the Essential Air Service program.
Cape Air currently provides three daily round-trip flights between the Lake Clear airport and Boston under the program. Proponents of adding a flight to the New York City area say it would help the local economy.
