LOWVILLE, N.Y. — Copenhagen’s undefeated Golden Knights broke a tie with a goal in the second half Tuesday and earned a spot in Section III’s Class D title match with their 2-1 victory over the Remsen Rams.
The Golden Knights (18-0-0), seeded first for postseason play, will play Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on SUNY-Cortland’s red field against the winner of Wednesday’s match between No. 2 Poland, the defending sectional and state champion, and No. 3 Cincinnatus, last year’s sectional runner-up.
Tuesday’s match was tied at 1 at halftime at Lowville Academy. Emily Roberts’ goal in the second half broke the tie and proved to be the winner. Maci Spaulding had scored earlier for the Golden Knights and Mackenzie Wheeler made nine saves.
Elisha Hamilton scored for the Rams (14-3-0) with an assist from Joleen Marfone. Mieka Scott made 12 saves.
Remsen’s two previous losses were against Poland.
