Food Sense is a food co-op program offered through the Food Bank of Central New York and local nonprofit agencies, and is a way for families to save money and purchase foods for less.
There are no restrictions and each package is filled with meats, vegetables, fruits and grocery items. The cost of a package is $15.50, yet the market value is closer to $25 or $30.
Registration will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 at the Annunciation Parish Center, 60 West St., Ilion.
The package will be delivered on Friday, Nov. 22. Check with the site for pick-up time.
The list of foods for the November Food Sense package includes two pounds of turkey pan roast, one pound of pollock fillets, one pound of ground pork sausage, two pounds of fresh mashed potatoes, 10.5 ounces of turkey gravy, 15 ounces of sweet potatoes, 14 ounces of cranberry sauce, 7.75 ounces of buttermilk biscuit mix, six ounces of stuffing, two pie shells and two fresh produce items.
The November specials are 7.5 pound chicken roasters for $9.50, two pounds of stuffed pork chops for $9, five pounds of mashed potatoes for $5.75, two pounds of whiting fish fillets for $5, five pounds of American cheese for $11.50, two pounds of meatloaf for $6.25, 12 eight-ounce Hot Pocket sandwiches for $17.
