  • Tickets available for Holiday Pops Concert at HHS

  • Concert tickets are now available for the Syracuse Symphoria “Music in the Key of CNY” seventh annual Holiday Pops Concert at Herkimer Junior-Senior High School on Friday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m.
    General admission tickets at $15 are available at Big Apple Music, New Hartford; and in Herkimer at Citizens Bank, Curves of Herkimer, M&T Bank, the St. Francis de Sales Parish Office, Herkimer Village Office and Herkimer EyeCare Center.
    For reserved seats, call Katie Nichols at 866-1563. Reserved tickets are $20.

    Sean O’Loughlin will return as the 2013 Pops conductor; one who delighted the audience as the 2012 Pops conductor with his rendition of “Polar Express.” O’Loughlin is a fresh voice and a rising name in the music world, according to a news release. His music is characterized by vibrant rhythms, passionate melodies and colorful scoring, according to the release. Commissions from the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra highlight and showcase his diverse musical abilities.
    As a conductor, he has led performances with the Boston Pops Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the Victoria Symphony and the Seattle Symphony amongst others. He was the conductor and arranger for the critically acclaimed symphony tour with Sarah McLachlan, according to the release. He was also the assistant conductor and arranger for a production of “Sgt. Pepper Live” in Las Vegas featuring the band Cheap Trick.
    Recent collaborations include such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Adele, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monáe, Hall and Oates, Gloria Estefan, the Indigo Girls, Diana Krall, Itzhak Perlman, Natalie Merchant, Chris Isaak, Blue Man Group, Pink Martini, Brandi Carlile, The Decemberists, Martina McBride, Josh Ritter Gloria Gaynor and others.
    Growing up in Syracuse, O’Loughlin displayed a passion for music at an early age. He benefited from loving parents who supported his musical aspirations and challenged him to explore music as a career, according to the release. During his undergraduate years at Syracuse University, O’Loughlin’s musical career began to take shape with the guidance of Larry Clark. As vice president at Carl Fischer Music, Clark continues to be a major influence in O’Loughlin’s professional career as mentor and friend.
    Through his growing number of commissioned and published works, O’Loughlin is excited to continue contributing to the rich history of orchestral and wind band literature, according to the release. His music is published by Carl Fischer and Hal Leonard. He is a frequent guest conductor with professional orchestras and honor bands around the country. An annual ASCAP Special Awards winner, O’Loughlin was a composition fellow at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, and holds composition degrees from New England Conservatory and Syracuse University.
