Pearl M. Grzeszczuk died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at the age of 79, after a long illness at Alpine Nursing Home, Little Falls.
Pearl was born on Aug. 25, 1934, in the town of German Flatts, the daughter of the late Martha Belle Lowell and Carl Grzeszczuk Shaver. She graduated from Mohawk High School and lived in East Herkimer for over 50 years. Mrs. Grzeszczuk had worked at Remington Rand Co., Folts Homes in Herkimer and took care of her many friends at the Union Tools Co. in Frankfort.
Pearl’s hard work, kind heart and generosity were an inspiration to her family and friends and those who knew her. She was a lover of animals and gardening.
She is survived by her older brothers and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John (Anita) Shaver of Herkimer, Mr. Theodore “Ted” Shaver of Mohawk, and Eleanor Currie of Mohawk and Norwich, and her children, Kathleen A. Gillette and husband Frank of Liverpool, Steven K. Lowell of Springfield, Mass., and David Grzeszczuk and wife Lorie of Canastota. Also the many grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought joy into Pearl's later years. She will be also greatly missed by her many friends in Herkimer.
Pearl is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Anthony, on July 21, 2013, her brother, Carl R. Shaver “Dickie,” and her granddaughter, Melissa A. Gillette, on Nov. 14, 1989.
Calling hours for Mrs. Grzeszczuk will be on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Janet Gleason, pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer and Little Falls officiating.
