  • Deer blamed for Whitestown fatal 2-car crash

  • A woman has died after being hit by a deer thrown into her windshield by a collision with an oncoming car.
    The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says a minivan driven by 31-year-old Erin Geddes of Rome struck the deer around 6:45 p.m. Saturday in Whitestown. The deer was thrown into the path of a car driven by 53-year-old Karen Liles of Oriskany.
    Liles was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 56-year-old Arden Deburn of Albany, was treated for shock. Geddes suffered abdominal pain and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Oneida.
