A Herkimer High School graduate has recently made a switch in her career at the top of the entertainment industry.
Jenise Caiola, of the class of 1991, will now work as executive vice president of human resources at ITV Studios U.S. Group. She recently held a similar position at Universal Music Group, previously called EMI Music.
Caiola has been in the entertainment industry for about 10 years.
She said she had just returned from teaching abroad in Asia when she was looking for a job in New York City.
“Then I landed a job in the music industry,” she said during a telephone interview Thursday. “It was not part of the plan.”
Caiola graduated from the State University of New York in Oswego in 1996 with a major in communications and a minor in business administration. She spent eight years working with EMI, which was acquired last year by Universal Music Group.
In September, ITV Studios announced the formation of the ITV Studios U.S. Group after ITV’s acquisition of Gurney Productions, High Noon Entertainment and Thinkfactory Media. A leadership team chaired by Paul Buccieri, president and chief executive officer of ITV STUDIOS U.S. GROUP and managing director of ITV Studios International, leads the group.
Caiola will answer to Buccieri and David Osborn, divisional human resources of ITV Studios, in her new position.
In an article posted on the Hollywood Reporter website, Buccieri said, “Jenise has vast experience in the entertainment industry. Her expertise working in creative cultures and nurturing talent at all levels will be a fantastic asset to the team.”
In the same article, it states Caiola was senior vice president of human resources at EMI Music, North America. Caiola “played a key role in preparing the company for the recent sale process and managed a large team serving EMI’s approximately 800 North America-based employees.”
Caiola plans on making the move from Manhattan to Los Angeles to start her new job in January.
“What I love about the entertainment industry are the personalities,” said Caiola. “It’s such an exciting group of people to be working with. They’re very dynamic. There’s all sorts of personalities. I love being in a creative environment.”
Caiola said she doesn’t normally work directly with the talents, but has met many celebrities through her experience, including Katy Perry and Coldplay.
Caiola gave some advice about those interested in having a career in entertainment.
“It’s a tough business and there’s a long line of people who want to be part of it,” she said. “You have to standout and take risks and ask yourself ‘What do I offer that others don’t?’”
