HERKIMER — Churches in Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and Oswego counties will collect Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts packed with school supplies, hygiene items and small toys to go to boys and girls ages 2 to 14 in countries struggling with conflict, poverty and disaster around the world the week of Nov. 18 to 25.
Drop-off hours vary by church. Volunteer organizers are asking for a donation of $7 per box to help with delivery of the boxes to overseas destinations by the Samaritan’s Purse organization led by Franklin Graham.
Since 1993, the project has delivered shoebox gifts to more than 100 million children in more than 100 countries.
The participating Herkimer County site is the Mohawk Reformed Church at 20 S. Otsego St., Mohawk. Gifts will be collected from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Nov. 24, and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25.
