The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways is looking for girls who want to help others by becoming part of the council’s Disaster Relief Team.
The team has traveled to help people recover after natural disasters like hurricanes Katrina and Sandy.
Girls must be between the ages of 16 and 18 to participate.
Non-registered Girl Scouts are also invited to join in.
A kickoff meeting will take place at the New Hartford Service Center, 600 French Rd., on Monday, Nov. 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Members of the Girl Scout Disaster Relief Team use their April break from school to travel to communities which have been devastated by natural disaster and are in need of help cleaning and rebuilding. They have traveled to places such as Alabama, Florida and most recently, Jamaica, N.Y. Although the team originated in the Utica area, it wants to expand its current group and start another disaster relief team in the southern region.
All interested girls and adult volunteers are asked to attend the meeting.
