  • Herkimer man arrested for firing rifle in apartment complex

  • Herkimer police arrested a Herkimer man for firing a rifle inside an apartment complex.
    Jerry J. Holmes, 21, of 115 N. Main St., was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment on Nov. 14, a class D felony.
    Police made the arrest after receiving a complaint a bullet traveled through the wall of Holmes’ apartment and into the adjoining apartment, where a woman and her daughter were sleeping. Upon investigation, police recovered a bullet after it lodged in a couch.
    Holmes was being held for arraignment as of deadline.
    No injuries were reported.
