ALBANY — It looks like it will be a very good year for New York state’s corn crop.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service says New York grain corn production is forecast at a record high 108 million bushels, up 19 percent from last year. Officials say there were higher yields and more acres harvested around the state.
Weather conditions in New York this year were generally good for growing fruits and vegetables.
Nationwide, corn production is forecast at 14 billion bushels, up 30 percent from 2012. That would be a production record for the United States.
