Assemblyman Marc Butler presented the group with a proclamation while Cpl. Gregory Harris Hospitality Room representative Randi Matousek thanked the Corps for its support and devotion to troops in transit at the Syracuse Airport.
Coalition founder R.J. Lenarcic presented commemorative glasses and Fallen Stars Memorial certificates to Bev Alwine, Alana Fredericks, Mary Ann Collins, Helen Rose, Jan Waterbury, Kay Lenarcic, Michele Ricci, Dave Petkovsek, Kira Andrilla, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kane and Kathy Lowery. Also recognized were Corps coordinators Brenda Petty, past and Laura Hailston, present.
“It was the coalition’s pleasure to recognize the efforts of these wonderful volunteers and coordinators. We were grateful that Cpl. Mayne’s parents, Lee and Cathy, were able to join us for the occasion. Lastly, we’d like to thank Rudy Scialdo, Jr. and his staff for an outstanding meal,” said Lenarcic in a news release.
Henceforth the Cookie Corps will operate as a separate organization under the auspices of Hailston and Vietnam veteran Ron Schoonmaker. Anyone interested in joining may contact either at 894-0894.
