HERKIMER — The November meeting of the Herkimer Garden Club took place in the fellowship hall of the Herkimer Reformed Church, with President Maria Fiorentino presiding.
Nominating Chairman Carolyn Neverusky presented the slate of officers for the 2014-2015 term: President Maria Fiorentino, First Vice President Claudia Gloo, Second Vice President Leah Peyton, Secretary Judi Lasorella, Treasurer Joyce Cristiano and Corresponding Secretary Louise Wiernicki.
Discussion on placing a Blue Star Memorial Marker honoring veterans took place and will be continued after a study of placement is held. Also, it was announced a Fifth District Federated Garden Club trip to Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens will be offered in August. Names for Valley Health residents' gifts were given.
The December meeting will take place at the Herkimer Elks Lodge.
After the meeting, Steve Brown, a state federated flower show judge, gave a demonstration on creating a centerpiece using white pinecones. A hands-on workshop followed. Many creative arrangements were made, which will be displayed at the December meeting.
Fiorentino thanked hostesses Delores Restante and Gloria Sevilla for the evening.
