  • LIVERPOOL — Police have charged a 42-year-old man after a head-on collision in suburban Syracuse that killed a woman and left her three children and their father seriously injured.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says that Muhammad Baqir of Liverpool has been charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs in the Sunday afternoon crash in Clay.
Killed in the crash was 34-year-old Meagan Patterson, who was thrown through her car’s windshield. The children in her car — aged 2 through 14 — remain hospitalized along with the 35-year-old driver, Lance Patterson.
Baqir and a passenger in his vehicle were uninjured.
Deputies say Baqir was being held in jail without bail due to an unspecified prior felony conviction.
It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
