I don’t usually go back and read my old columns but one has haunted me all year long.

It’s the one where I tell you my son and my husband don’t always feel welcome at Christmas because they didn’t have a picture perfect childhood.

13AdventLogoSquareIn that column, I talk about how I’m elbowing in at the manger and making room for the less-than-perfect and the far-from-perfect. The grieving. The sick. The financially strapped.

There’s enough room and love at the manger for all of us, I write.

I still can’t read it without crying, without wanting this Christmas to be a season of welcome.

And, so, this is my gift to you: 25 days of welcoming Christmas – and making Christmas welcoming to all.

Some days I’ll share what my little family and I are doing and some days we’ll have guest writers who are willing to tell their stories, willing to teach us new ways to extend the welcome.

I hope you’ll join us, and more than anything, I pray you find your spot at the manger. It’s your Christmas, too.
