  • ILION — Local vocalists and musicians will come together to perform on Dec. 15 for the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition’s “Ye Olde Fashioned Christmas Concert.”
The concert is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and will take place at the First Baptist Church, 8 Second St., Ilion. A $5 donation will be requested at the door to benefit the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition Winter Coats for Kids Campaign. The concert will honor World War II veterans, with each WWII veteran attending receiving a commemorative gift.
Performers will include vocalists John Seymour, of Ilion, known as “The Singing Barber,” Dale Edwards, of Mohawk, Johnna Bernard, of Ilion, and Jennifer Snyder, a graduate of Berkeley College in Boston. Mike DiMeo, retired New Hartford band director, will perform on the trumpet.
Accompanists will include Jeanne Bennett, Laureen Mitchell, Christine Mergenthaler and Mark Bunce.
Also featured will be Jake Frost and the Elfettes — Lindsay Snyder, Ava Judd, Alex Rowe and Kandence Gage. Pat Crouse and Lauren Wiliczka will lead volunteers from the audience in the singing of “The 12 Days of Christmas.”
The hunger coalition has also announced it has two original Christmas stories - “Jack and Jake Frost” and “The Snowbird” — available for $5 with proceeds to benefit the Johnson family, whose daughter, Sophie, is battling cancer. Copies will be available at the concert, or write to HCHC, P.O. Box 622, Herkimer 13350.
