  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Blue Devils sweep Old Forge

  • DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. — The Dolgeville Blue Devils swept three games from the Old Forge Eskimos Monday and started the season with a 25-8, 25-5, 25-6 victory at home.
    Camilla Rios served nine aces and had three digs for Dolgeville (1-0); Courtney Rachon served seven aces and had eight assists, three digs and a kill; Taylor Brandow had eight kills, four aces, an assist and a dig; Mikey Rubas had five kills, five aces and two digs; Kaylee Brandow served four aces; Courtney Normoyle had five assists and three aces; Cheyanne Sullivan had two kills and a block; Annabelle Lee had two kills and a dig; Abby Mosenthin served one ace; and Katie Millard had one dig.
    Shelby Egnaczyk had two assists, an ace, a kill and a dig for Old Forge (0-1); Lindsay Payne had two kills and a dig; and Nicole Redpath had one assist.
    Dolgeville won 2-0 in junior varsity play.
    Old Forge will be back in Dolgeville Saturday as one of the teams competing in the Blue Devils’ annual holiday tournament.

    COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The Cooperstown Hawkeyes defeated Owen D. Young in four games Monday in the season’s first match for both teams.
    The Hawkeyes won by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-19.
    Caroline Leonard put down 16 kills and served five aces for Cooperstown (1-0); Katie Franck had 12 kills and four aces; Brooke Liner had nine kills, four blocks and two aces; and McKenna Hage had seven kills and an ace.
    Owen D. Young (0-1) next plays Monday at home against Waterville.
    Cooperstown plays at home Wednesday against Mt. Markham.

    CLINTON 0
    REMSEN, N.Y. — The Remsen Rams claimed their first win of the season Monday when they swept three games against Clinton.
    The Rams defeated Clinton 25-22, 25-12, 25-12.
    Hailey Murray served 12 aces with 14 assists and four digs for Remsen (1-1); Kate Roos had 13 assists; Aly Atwell had seven kills, two aces, two assists and two digs; and Megan Will had six kills, three aces and four digs.
    Maggie Billiter had four kills and three blocks for Clinton (0-2); Mae Dinh had 11 digs; Sophie Atik had nine digs; and Rachel Evans had eight assists and five digs.
