MOHAWK — Donald R. (Don) Ligoski, 80, of Mohawk, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Little Falls Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1933, in Herkimer, the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary M. (Poznoski) Ligoski, and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1951.
He was married to the former Anita Yelle. Mrs. Ligoski preceded him in death on October 9, 2001.
Don was last employed at Remington Arms in Ilion as a Time Clerk. At one time, he worked for the former Montgomery Wards in Herkimer. He was a member of the Herkimer Elks Lodge #1439.
Donald enjoyed sitting on the porch visiting with neighbors and family. An avid card player, Don enjoyed his Tuesday night pitch games. In his leisure time, he loved to read and watch television.
Survivors include his brother, Dr. Arthur M. Ligoske and wife, Lois, of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Nancy Murphy and husband, Edward, of Ilion; a special cousin, Dianne Cherry, of Mohawk, with whom he resided with for several years; a stepson, Joseph Moore and wife, Terry, of Ilion; two stepdaughters, Linda Kasarda, of Ilion, and Ellen Eysaman and husband, Tom, of Mohawk; a niece, Ann (Murphy) Scalise and husband, Gino, of Ilion; a nephew, Daniel Murphy, of Oneida; great-nieces, Brynna and Kaydence Murphy; a great-nephew, Vincenzo Scalise; many cousins, including Lori Sementilli and JoAnne LeClair, both of Mohawk; and in-laws, John Lynch and wife, Terry, of Mohawk, and Charles Yelle and wife, Carol, of Herkimer.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Ligoski.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY, 866-1500.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 12:00 noon from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY, with Deacon James Bower, of Annunciation Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
