BERNE, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties had four individual champions Saturday and won the team title at Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Bulldog Invitational.
The Mounties had four individual champions and four other finalists as they accumulated 260 points, five more than runner-up Catskill at the 10-team event. The tournament championship follows Little Falls’ repeat win at Poland’s Dominic DeSiato Duals one week earlier.
Devin Dawley, a first-year wrestler, won the 132-pound title for Little Falls and pinned each of his five opponents in doing so. Neiko Scarano (106 pounds), Sean Rood (152) and Zach Kane (220) won individual titles with matching 4-0 records. Kane won an all-Mountie title bout with a 9-8 decision against teammate Quincy Brown.
The other finalists for Little Falls were James Scanlon at 113 pounds, Andrew Messina at 120 and Cole Fredericks at 160. John Klimacek placed fourth at 113 after Scanlon beat him in the quarterfinals. Nate Miller (160 pounds) and Caleb Ambroze (182) were fifth while Tyler Douglas (138) and Brady McLain (285) were sixth for the Mounties who won the tournament with five varsity starters out of their lineup.
